But there are other reasons why some people may want to dispose of their old jewellery. There is no ‘right’ reason to sell gold that you no longer want nor is there any particular ‘wrong’ reason to sell gold.

Divide your jewellery into two groups: the first group comprises your jewellery that would be difficult to sell and the second group comprises jewellery that might stand a better chance of attracting an antique dealer’s eye. This would make it so much easier to sell your pieces.
Jewellery without any emotional value is a great reason to sell. Old engagement rings would fall into this category as would any other jewellery that represents negative and unhappy memories. Rather sell the pieces and use the money to buy something else.
