4 Printed Media Tips to Improve a Business

    Printed Media

Printed media is all about attracting customers. It’s a pretty simple form of advertising but it can be tough to get right, especially in a very competitive market.

    1. Plan leaflet/brochure layout and content carefully.

images (1)Modern marketing is all about good quality content that’s informative, appropriately written and easily available. There’s a lot of content out there – blogs, press releases, newspaper coverage, websites, review sites, social networks, etc. – and a lot of it is made up of poorly written content. For example, press releases are out of fashion in the current climate in favour of a regularly updated company blog, email newsletters and up to date leaflets and brochures containing company information.

The idea is that if a potential investor or customer wants to seek out more detailed information off the back of something like a poster campaign or after reading good reviews, they can easily request a brochure full of useful information.

Make sure a current company brochure is always available, produced using high quality printing, contains interesting, useful information and is written professionally. Different brochures for customers/potential investors/overseas clients/etc. can be a great way to cover every base.

    2. Don’t overload posters with information.

Posters can be a superb way to spread the word of a business without spending a huge budget on a marketing campaign. There are plenty of online poster printing services that are ideal for businesses looking to get cheap poster printing, professional quality and simple poster creation tools.

Posters need to be visually stimulating, impacting customers’ gaze as they pass. That means not overloading the poster with small print, small images and multiple topics.

Stay on message – a particular product, an event, new opening hours, expansion, etc. – and always include basic information like contact details, opening hours, website address, store location and so on.

    3. Use postcards to focus on a product or service.

Postcards can be a superb way to reach potential customers cheaply and effectively. Like poster printing services, there are plenty of cheap online firms out there offering easy-to-use tools and services to design and produce business postcards.

Many firms use postcards in partnership with long term advertising. For example, a billboard advertising the company is expensive to update regularly. But using a billboard to advertise the company in a general fashion long term and using postcards to highlight particular products and offers means it’s easier for a business to create smaller scale marketing plans with less impactive financial outlay.

Postcards tend to work best when they include a call to action, e.g. discount offers, online discount code, time-limited special offers, etc.

    4. Keep business card information up to date.

It looks unprofessional to be handed a business card with pen corrections on it. Don’t print thousands of business cards at once if less than a hundred are likely to be handed out on a monthly basis. Think about using an online printing service that will save card design details, allowing for it to be updated and printed in smaller batches to avoid waste.
